Serbia’s Foreign Trade Down 8.1% in January–May 

Serbia’s foreign trade from January to the end of May this year totaled EUR15.34bn and was 8.1% lower YOY, the Serbian Statistical Office stated on June 30. Serbia’s foreign trade from January to the end of May this year totaled EUR15.34bn and was 8.1% lower YOY, the Serbian Statistical Office stated on June 30. The value of exports was EUR6.42bn, down 9.5% relative to the same period in 2019, whereas imports decreased by 7.1%, to EUR8.92bn. The foreign trade deficit amounted to EUR2.5bn, down 0.5% YOY. Exports accounted for 72% of imports, as opposed to 73.8% in the same period last year. EU member countries accounted for 60.1% of the overall exchange, while the single biggest foreign trade partner was Germany, to which goods worth EUR819.3m were exported and from which imports added up to 1.14bn. The second most important partner were the CEFTA member countries, to which Serbia exported goods worth EUR1.03bn and from which it imported goods worth 317.1m.
